Iris takes place in the Cabriole Sector of Frontier Space. A sector with larger-than-typical boundaries due to the vastness of empty space between the known star-systems and planets. Much of the Sector is entirely uninhabited, save for the six Nanotrasen stations, five space and one planetary respectively.
All employees stationed here have their housing taken care of in the nearby singular CentCom Outpost, which facilitates all six skeleton-crew stations. Per Nanotrasen's agreement with Sol Gov still being in effect, there are two small Sol Gov outposts nearby incase of Civil Emergencies or other matters depending on Sol Gov to become involved in station affairs.
The enigmatic and isolated vastness of the Cabriole sector has lead to several covert cells of Syndicate agents to be rumored within the area, and although typically attacks to the station are indirect and small, they do still occur. The Cabriole Sector remains in the far shadow of the Galaxy, unattended and unnoticed by most who are not actively seeking it.
All those employed to this sector are done so based on their contract, and are only told the name. Hazard pay is added to the end of every paycheck, though this is not told before or after assignment.
Two large nodes of interest to Nanotrasen in the Cabriole sector primarily appears to be two Plasma-Rich planetoids, the Magma-Ridden Lavaland and it's frozen over Plasma-Volcanic sibling Aimatios. All stations rotate between assignments, with the most staffed and active one being the station currently in orbit closest to Lavaland, in order to ensure smooth mining operations every orbital cycle.
Welcome to the Cabriole Sector, Crew.
Enjoy your stay.
